Recently I had a post discussing the fact that the fishing boat I purchased has a Bigfoot motor on the back: 2002 Smokercraft Stealth 162 with a 2001 50 hp Mercury 4 stroke (50ELPT 4S #OT 228815). I went to remove the prop to lube the shaft. The prop looks smaller than in the brochures. The prop is a 10.88 x 11P. When I looked in my West Marine catalogue, they offer this small of a prop for the standard motor, but not for the Bigfoot model. For the Bigfoot's they start with larger prop diameters with greater pitches. The boat launches okay but I still seem to have some left at the top end. I do not have a tach on the boat so I cannot tell if I am over revving. The dealer told me he took the boat out on a lake with several props and chose the best fit. I think he may have just found the best fit he had in stock, which may not have had the best one. Or he just mounted the prop that worked best on the standard motors, assuming it would be the same. Is this prop too small for this setup? Also, does anyone know if this year of Merc saves operating data that could be downloaded by a dealer to tell me what the max rpms I ran were? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.<br />RCS
