Couldn't find anything on the forums to help me with this. Redoing everything on my boat, took the carpet off and it took a small hole outta my deck. The glove gives it a comparison size. Do i need to replace the entire deck panel or can i get by with something else? photo 5.jpg

Looking at that hole and the surrounding wood it looks as though there is a good chance the stringers have been exposed to moisture. I would cut a larger square and inspect underneath. While you are at it, a core test of your transom may be in order.

Looks like you've got some rot going on there, you may need to do some exploratory surgery.

Are there soft spots in the floor in other areas? Have you done a thorough ispection of every nook and cranny of the deck? It appears from the pic that you may have a rotting deck and it there may be further issues than just the hole.

3 very similar answers in 2 minutes.

Those glassed deck penetrations really kill ya, don't they? I'd bet a dollar to a donut that hole started out as a small screw hole or something. The moisture gets trapped under that glass and starts doing very evil things to the wood.

What boat are we looking at ?

Year/Make/model ?

Probably at least a 3x3 patch to the stringers and bulkhead points..

i beleive its a 1985 winner ZZ 880 Fish & Ski, that's the only part of the deck that seems unstable, the rest feels solid to me (200lb. man). It does seem to be where the port seat was screwed into. I'm no expert, but bondo? replace just a portion 3'x3' mentioned earlier?
