Does anyone know what the extreemly small holes in the lower unit are used for? One is located on the nose of the lower unit (Forgive me for not knowing the proper term) and one is located about half way between the two oil Add/Fill ports. The holes are probably about 1/16" in Dia. The reason I ask is because it looks like the one on the nose is plugged up.

Re: Small holes in the lower unit?

They are usually drains for molded cavities in the lower units. They should be kept open, especially in winter, to prevent damage from freezing.
