When I first got the new boat I had to learn to drive it and then tweak it. Finally I thought I had it dialed in pretty good. I was running just under 72 mph (71.8 71.9) on the GPS with a moderate to light load at around 5800 RPM. With a heavy load I was running around 68 (68.2) at around 5600 RPM with a full tournament load.

A while back I lost some performance practically over night.

My top speed now with a light load is about 66 mph at just at 5500 RPM. I'm running 62-65 with a load.

Lots of people said PLUGS so I bought some. It didn't seem to make any difference. Might have seemed a little like it seat of the pants, but not in anything I could measure.

I can only think of two changes that happened at that time:

1. I started running Mercury fuel system additive to the gas as reccomended by Mercury. Could the fuel system additive have knocked junk loose and clogged something up? I'm not getting any alarms.

2. I had the motor serviced. Just a routine service. New waterpump, new lower unit oil, read the computer. I also had them adjust the hotfoot. I thought maybe it wasn't going full travel after adjusting, but I checked it and it appears to be going full travel just fine. Atleast at the butterflies. I don't recall seeing a new fuel filter on the service invoice. Could that be a problem?

P.S. I have between 30 and 40 hours total on the motor so far. The motor starts instantly and seems to run great.
