Hey folks

I have new (sat on the dealer floor for a year) 08 1952 with a 190 hp I/O. Looking through the manual I see there is an upgrade that can be bought called smart craft.

Basically it appears the Mercury installed sensors on the motor and for $100 or so you can buy a cable that will connect these sensors to my gps/fish finder.

Anyone use the smart craft? Is it worth the $100?

Re: smart craft

I have a Smartcraft tachometer and speedometer on my boat, and I love them. The initial cost can be pretty high ($500 or more for new set), but they give a lot of information on a digital and analogue gauge. You must have the tach/speedo or a single "system monitor" to hook the gps/ff into to get a readout. There is a LOONG thread in the Mercury/Mariner forum about how to install a Smartcraft system. Once you get the cable and gauges, it is basically "plug and play".
