Notice:
At this time of year we get hundreds of e-mail's and telephone calls each week requesting assistance and information about installation as well as performance. The volume of calls and e-mail's make it difficult to respond as quickly as we would like (same day).

We have redesigned our entire web site with special attention given to the installation section. We have posted many pictures of all varieties of boats, addressed special installation options, and included assembled dimension drawings for everyone's convenience. The video has not been updated but will be soon.

In many cases we direct customers to the install pages when answering e-mail's or phone calls, and most of the time this provides better answers than we could otherwise. This does not mean you can't call us.

In an effort to provide quicker response we invite everyone to review the "install" section of the web site, and if you would like, make suggestions and comments for improvement. We can always improve!

Made this a sticky (at least for a while) as this is helpful. Stickies are often ignored, but at least this won't flop to the next page . . . Thanks John.

I don't think enough can be said about the product, John, the employees, and the service they provide. If only every company was that easy to deal with.

After 4 years of patiently waiting for the funds, I'm going to be finally putting in an order next week. I can't wait!

Re: Smart Tabs Application & Installation Info

QC;

Thanks and I understand!

We are trying to keep up with the emails and phone calls which is a bit of a challenge at this time of the year. We have put more and more information, drawings, pictures and special application information on the Nauticus web site in an effort to provide answers as quickly, and easily, and as accurately as possible. It is truly a great resource.

Re: Smart Tabs Application & Installation Info

Jdeagro,

The Performance video on your website sold me on this product. However, I wanted more reassurance. May I suggest filming an actual person installing them and dealing with "real life"? Drilling that first hole in your boat is nerve wrecking and watching someone do it would alleviate some of that fear. It really was easy!

Also, I searched and searched for youtube video looking for something to show how they affected the wake for ski purposes and wakeboarding AND especially BEFORE and AFTER hole shot video on a variety of boat makes/models engine options and props with skier in tow. Stats are ok BUT mostly to reinforce what I see and feel. MORE VIDEO!!!

You have a great product, its a shame for anyone in need of these to miss out due to fears.

Re: Smart Tabs Application & Installation Info

I have a 195 I/O Tahoe deck boat and am thinking about installing smart tabs. Just curious if anyone has installed them on this boat and if they've had any trouble with tie downs being in the way or due to the stern graduating out to push the upper bracket back over the tab. My Dealer suggested a 21 pitch prop in place of my 23.5 may also help my high to plane speed and bow rise. Thanks for any input in advance.

Re: Smart Tabs Application & Installation Info

Welcome aboard kquin! I am thinking you should start a specific thread about your ride. This section (Boat Topics) is the right place. Post some pics of the transom and we'll be all over it. Good luck!!

i put them on my 195. huge improvement. there is a different piece you need that nauticus will send you. it replaces the clevice type fitting that is on the end of the strut that attaches to the tab.

Re: Smart Tabs Application & Installation Info

Thank you for the welcome and thanks for the reply. I'll post the pics and ?'s in a new thread. A little nervous about drilling into a boat I've only taken out twice. You know, Murphy's law applies to me a little too often when it comes to boats. Looks like John, at Nauticus, is saying I should place the tab outside the last chine.

I have the Smart Tabs SX on my NauticStar Offshore 1900...

I have the Smart Tabs SX on my NauticStar Offshore 1900...

The Smart Tabs SX are awesome. I've had them on my boat for over a year and love them. Last weekend we went to the Blue Angels air show on Pensacola Beach. The ride over was very rough (due to 1000's of boats in the bay). The tab on the port side literally broke off of the hinge during the trip over. Called Smart Tabs and they sent the replacement parts no question asked. As a matter of fact they've made improvements to how the piston attaches to the tab. I put the new parts on and went out today, and it ran perfectly.

Great Product and great customer service!

Where is the mentioned installation section of the site?

Thanks, Hitech. The way the post read, I thought it "our website" was iboats.com. I didn't realize the post was from Nauticus themselves and referring to their website (and the included installation section). Yep, all makes sense now.

Re: Smart Tabs Application & Installation Info

I installed the SXs last night. Moments before drilling into the transom I was sick to my stomach but once I got past the first few holes I was ok. I did notice quite a few errors in the instructions that came with the retractor plates though. In the end it was a very easy install and I will be able to test them in the water on Thursday.

I was missing the proper connections from actuator to retractor plate and Nauticus had them in the mail after 30 seconds on the phone; free of charge. Great customer service experience there as well.

Re: Smart Tabs Application & Installation Info

After reading many posts I'm seriously considering adding tabs. It appears I would need the ProTroller version for the size of my rig. Since trolling isn't my thing why would I need this version?
