Has anyone run smart tabs on any of the bigger starcrafts? I have a chieftain Mk4 24 ft. I am just getting it ready for the water and would like to know if smart tabs would be a worth while investment right off the get go.

Id go with no.
Try it out first, dont go looking to fix something that may not be an issue.
I think next I would get all the wheels on the trailer. :)

That was funny. Got to have wheels first. I have tabs on my 22 ft Holiday and really enjoy them . Helps a lot when I get it big tide changes in the Pacific They also allow for compensating a weight concernin the boat. I have BENNETT TRIM TABS 11 inch hydraulic, adjustable.

I have a 21' cheiftain, I am gelous you have the 24 footer. would love that extra 3'.
I thought about smart tabs a few years ago but never installed them, one because it appeared they would interfere with my kicker motor. Since then I got a different kicker motor bracket and I do not think that is an issue anymore.
The bow rise is not too bad if you keep your passengers in the middle of the boat or in the cabin.
So what I have done and it seems to work good is one guy in the passenger seat and all others in the cabin, also fishing weight, anchor and such goes up in the cabin, and the big fish box (which at times weighs in at 20-100lbs).
If you install smart tabs let us know how they work. The research I did a few years ago made me think they should work.

Me too. I would not use the smart tab as they are not adjustable.

thanks for the thoughts. the tires are the first in a long list of things that need to be done. I think I will wait and see how it handles before decidingng on the tabs. I will post more pics as it gets restored.
