Smart Tabs Tuning...

I have a Wellcraft 186 Eclipse with a 4.3LX Alpha One outdrive. I installed the ST1290-80 tabs successfully and they work wonderful. I installed at 25 degrees angle and both upper and lower adjustments are in the middle of their ranges.

Performance has improved significantly! The boat planes much more quickly and at a much lower speed. I can now pull my kids in a tube at 10MPH AND see over the bow while setting normally in the drivers seat. The high speed seems to be about the same (approx 47). I rarely go faster than 40MPH so I really don't know exactly how fast it was before the Smart Tabs were installed.

However, the speed/RPM ratio seems to have changed at the mid level RPMs. Prior to Smart Tabs the boat ran about 30MPH at about 3000 RPM. Now, it runs about 25-27 at 3K RPM. Is there some tuning I can do that could improve the mid range MPH/RPM performance? Thanks... M

Reduce the presure at the plate bracket by moving the actuator closre to the plate. Try about 1/2" first. This will not change the angle of deployment, and should not take more than a few min.
