My boat has SmartCraft tach & speedo, vintage 2006. Merc OptiMax 225 outboard. The gauges are damaged by the sun and pretty much unusable except for the tach needle.

I bought some new Faria SmartCraft gauges and went to install them today.

To my utter surprise, the pin patterns on the old and new gauges are totally different.

The old gauges have a 10-pin plug and the new gauges have a 12-pin configuration. One does not fit into the other.

I have spent the past hour on Google, with no success.

Is there an adapter cable available, or have I just wasted $500.00 on these new gauges?

Hoping for some help...thanks!

Been looking and from what I'm finding is there is a CAN 1, 2 and 3 buss system. Here is a Merc Bulletin for choke and non-DTS. The 12 pin came about with CAN 3 buss. So far have been unable to find an adapter but there should be something out there, will continue to look

Appears right now that it just requires a different termination adapter, but don't know if 1 works with 3, but does appear 3 works with 1

I added a space between marine (and ) mechanic in the above link, cut-n-paste

You have a pic of the back of the old gauges?

Just FYI, I received a return email from Faria Customer Service. They do have a Faria cable to accomplish exactly what I am trying to do. It has a female 10-pin SC1000 SmartCraft (purple) on one end, and a female 12-pin SC3000 SmartCraft (orange) on the other end. About a hundred bucks.
