I spent many weekends wandering around and you just can never see it all. What a great collection of "stuff". I recommend it to everyone regardless of distance - a whole bunch more interesting than the "elected stuff shirts" down the road. ;)

Crab e-mail me

Bob

rpf924@hotmail.com

I was fortunate enough to visit the smitsonian back in about 84 or so...I'm just glad I was old enough(13-14)to appriciate it all... The air and space museum just blew me away...Heck I could spend a couple days in there.. I'd love to see it all again because like you said crab bait, "you can't see it all in a weekend".. One of these days I'll make it back up there..I hope..

yeah,, me to .. the philadelphia art museum is free on sundays.. it's world renown.. they have a medevil knights suit-of-armor collection & weapons that's the best in the world.. i
go there alot in the cold months..

dowm the 'smith',, in the natural history ,, they have an eskimo exhabit..
the eskimo's would take a very flexiable bone from a seal... they would fold the bone into an accordian shape & sandwich it 'tween two pieces of blubber & wrap it with raw-hide... they would make up a few of these & place them outside to freeze..
then they would cut the raw-hide off & scatter them about over nite..

the next mornin' they would find one gone an tracks of an animal leadin' away... the eskimo's would follow the tracks not far to find a dead animal at tracks end...

the animal came by an ate the blubber whole cause it was frozen... as he walked away,, the blubber thawed out in his stomach,, an B O I N G G GGGG.. killed from the inside....

I love them too but I won't go to the State Museum anymore because I found out the hard way how bad the crime is around it. I do go to the one in Charleston. I also have a membership to the Aquarium here as well as the zoo.

Good information, as I will be in DC next week visiting my children. Plan to go to Smithsonian and see the Air and Space museum and the Natural History museum. Is their anything else that is a "must" while there. I havn't been since the mid-fifties.
