I'm glad to hear that. Right now my aunt is in the hospital after having a cancer tumor removed from her left lung. I hope you stopped soon enough. Goodluck,

Re: Smoke Free. Day 1,461

Minnesota put a dollar a pack price on smokes three years ago and that was enough to get me to finally quit. I quit when you originally quit but got addicted to nicorette and re started smoking per my doctors suggestion. Well butrin (zyban) worked really good for me. Congrats 4 years is awesome. How much weight did you gain?

40 lbs!

.... time to work on that now.

It was easier to quit smoking than to loose weight. Smokes I could 100% walk away from and swear off. Can't do that with food. Moderation and will power must win!

Been 30 lbs with me. Never had a weight problem before but it is better then the alternative. I refuse to go to a 38 inch waist so it is time to change a few more things.

Well done ndemge, keep at it,

I'm up to day #17,345 :D, but like the others I'm fighting the waistline. Doc told me to go on a 'low-fat' diet because my cholesterol numbers were starting to creep up. I'm skiing a lot right now and I'm losing about 2 pounds a week. But it doesn't help that my wife is a great cook!! And Russian food tends to be a bit on the 'heavy' side.... But we're getting there... only another 10kgs to target (22 pounds).

Chris.........

I stopped smoking, cold turkey, when I was doing 3 to 4 packs a day, way back in 91. That was easy! The "Spare Tire" Not so easy

Well done that's excellent just don't ever start again. For me it is 2135 days and 30lbs just hate the weight gain.

Remember that nicotine is a stimulant and we should reduce calorie intake when we quit, unfortunately I was unable to follow the theory.

Cheers

Congratulations to all you guys!!!
I have some friends who have tried repeatedly to quit and can't do it. This tells me how hard it is so I am glad you triumphed.
I also have never been much of a smoker but could still stand to lose 20# so maybe it ain't the smokes?
Keep on quittin. :D

Plus about 35lbs for me. With out the cigs burning off the taste buds, food tastes so good now. I really should dust off the exercise machine.

My mind still trys that trick on me sometimes. A couple of beers and deck of cards, and next thing you know I'm looking around for a cig. Eventually you get to the point that even if you do pick one up, you can't smoke it because it just tastes terrible.
Keep it up and Good Luck.

Re: Smoke Free. Day 1,461

Day 4 for me. I quit smoking my cigars. I was smoking up to 5 cigars a day. I would take a few drags, then put it out and smoke it later.
I ended up smoking cigars after I quit smoking cigarettes a few years ago.
It is REALLY hard to quit, especially when you can buy one cigar at a time; not like smokes...you have to buy a pack at a time.
They say, after 3 days the nicotine in your system is gone...it's all just a head game after day 3.

Congrats on you quitting ndemge!
