I have twin 2000 200 HP Yamaha OX66's. They have been smoking pretty good at startup. The smoke goes away after the engines warm up. Other than that the engines have been running great.

I pulled the boat out of the water yesterday to move it. When i got to my destination I noticed oil on top of my my full flotation bracket. I was thinking that it was a hose. To be on the safe side I took offf the cowlings on both engines. When I did this I saw some oil by the two lower cylinders on the port side of the port engine. (Can oil really leak through the sparc plug oils are did it probably drip from up above)?

I replaced all of the sparc plugs (because I had recently had done a ringfree shock treatment). Good thing becuase there was some carbon buildup on the plugs.

I then started up both engines. The port engine began smoking like a pig and would not stop. The engines started on the first crank and sound fine.

I pulled the boat out of my slip and dropped it off for my friendly mechanic to look at. Any ideas as to what it could be?

If you haven't have the O2 sensors removed and the mess cleaned, that'll probably take care of the smoke. It'll also make for better idling. As for the oil, you'll probably find the trim sensor stuck in the down position. When it's down, the internal tank can pump oil to the engine on-board tank, as when you're running. By design, when the engine's tilted up, oil shouldn't be sent to the on-board tank even when the key is left on and the engine is not running. When the sender's down and the key is on and the engine's tilted up, the combination at times will overfill the onboard tank. Its overflow hose routes to the airbox, so if it pumped extra oil into the airbox, it would certainly smoke enough to kill mosquitoes for a while.
