1990 omc 4.3L running hot, changed impeller, tested with muffs to make sure water was discharging, put in water and engine heats up to 200* and keeps going, ran for about 15 minutes at most, checked impeller and was melted and cage was rotated 90* I did remove the inlet hose and it was pumping a good amount of water. I'm at witts end, Please help.... Thanks

Did the oring on the impeller housing get replaced? You didn't overtighten the housing bolts and distort it did you?

You now need a complete new pump housing and impeller.

yes, I replaced the o-ring and did not overtighten the bolts. I'm thinking maybe there is an obstruction and the impeller is working too hard and it's burning them out... GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
