I have 1989 85 HP Force.

Should I have a lot of smoke at idle & smoke inside the motor cover too.

Good compression

New plugs

Runnng 50:1 QuickSilver

Will this effect the carb mix whencover is on?

Runs great tru 7/8 throttle

When I try the last little push for WOT is 4000-4500 i get a tiny sputter.

If I pull back to 7/8 again it smoothes right out.

Good Hoses, Clamps tight I use regular octane.

Thanks guys!:)

Yes these motors smoke a lot, but hard to tell if it is too much.

NO, you should not have smoke inside the cowling.

You have an exhaust leak, most likely below the powerhead at the adaptor plate, or the exhaust tube that runs down from there.

Enough exhaust around the powerhead will starve the engine for oxygen.
