Hey guys...
So I have a 1990 XR4 150HP outboard and the last time I took it out I had the oil line from the oil reservoir break and fill the motor case with oil. I didn't know it until I was loading on the trailer...dumped it all over when I lifted the motor out of the water.
Now, I have replaced the hose and another that I identified as brittle and ready to break too. I taped off the intakes and washed down the motor. I starts and runs good now except for the smoke that it's putting off (out the exhaust).
Is there any chance that I will cause any harm if I simply try to "run it out". Maybe a couple hours on the water? So far I have run it just enough to warm the motor. (hooked up to the water hose in the back yard)
