Smoking 2 stroke

I know a 2 stroke motor should be expected to smoke, but how much smoke is too much? This is my first boat and I just got the motor running last night, a 1978 Chrysler 115hp, and she seemed to smoke quite a bit. Not having previous experience with a 2 stroke motor, I'm not sure how to compare it. Also, are there any factors other than the fuel mix that could cause the motor to smoke more?

If this is the first time is has been run in a long time it might have fogging oil in it. If so it is going to smoke real bad for awhile. When you ran it was it in the lake or on water muffs? Water muffs you will get more smoke as well. Oil should be mixed 50 to 1 using marine grade two stroke oil.
