2000 Mercury 3 cylinder 40 HP with oil injection.<br />Generally stored at a 45 degree angle on transome saver. Will smoke excessively upon startup but clears after short period of operation. Started few months ago but getting progresively worse. Any seals in the pump assembly allowing oil to drain into cylinder? Any ideas as to the problem would be great but if I cannot remedy, the oil injection will be disconnected and premix ran...

You might check your pump linkage adjustment. Better to smoke than not. Premix will smoke too.

Dmessy, do whatever you want...its yer motor....me, I would check the output check valve to see if it is leaking, allowing extra oil into the fuel lines during periods of non use...
