Hi guys well i have a evinrude 20 from around 1973 and i mean she runs sweet as a nut but she smokes quite abit. When throttled up she puffs out blue smokeas if she is running to rich. I think this is probably just bore wear tho? Would the mixture adjusting nob on the front help it out?
Cheers

Re: Smokey..

Are you running it at 50:1? It's common for motors to smoke a lot, if you're running it in your driveway. Taking it out on the water, it's less noticeable. Low speed knob should be 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 turns out from lightly seated.

Re: Smokey..

Search this forum for 'decarb procedure' and you'll see SMOKE! It may get better after your done, and you'll get any accumulated carbon off the inside of your powerhead. I do it every couple years.

Re: Smokey..

It is supposed to smoke. If it were not smoking, you would have some serious problems.

You are running it in a barrel, aren't you? Get it out of that barrel and on a boat on the lake. That is where it was designed to run.
