it's not Australia.....I THINK I know where it is tho.
Put "Christchurch, New Zealand" in google earth, then adjust the map to cover all over New Zealand.
At bottom left of the Nasa picture is Banks Peninsula, jutting out in to the ocean. Christchurch is 15 miles west of Banks Peninsula.
Follow the coastline north and the river Waiau River (Nth Canterbury one) on google earth is identical shape to the one on the Nasa picture.
Look closely....there are 2 Islands......I reckon the bottom one is the South Island of New Zealand, the top one the North Island of NZ.
What throws you off is the Nasa photo is taken on an angle, plus the curvature of the earths surface seems to make everything 'out of proportion'.....eg Banks Peninsula I spoke of is in reality a very small area, but in the picture it is a dominant feature.
This particular picture is one of a series of Nasa pictures i have somewhere.
Wife just came in and immediately recognized it as NZ, so we used google earth and came up with the sheep station she was raise on........"that's our place, and the 2nd house, and Berts place is there, and the twins farms are that one and that one".........etc.....yep, she knows the area.........Fairton, New Zealand......starts 3 paddocks SE of town ship...
