So I finally had the guts to Pull the drive off came off quite easy Volvo Sx-M, And I tore the sealant that those Hacks had put on.
The bellows look good no sign of wear, and are very stiff. The Engine Coupler Looks Great all splines are there. I will be replacing Gasket and o rings, and Greasing the Driveshaft Splines and U-joints and cleaning off the White gum, The U-joints look a little rusted is that normal?

Also Can I use any gear oil 75w-90 synthetic for my outdrive? and I will be greasing the U-joints w/ Marine Grease I got at harbor Frieght, And the Coupler splines with Molygraph Grease is that okay?

I will be taking it to a shop to check Alignment Since I don't have the alignment tool.20130526_163031.jpg20130526_163247.jpg20130526_163252.jpg

Re: So I finally pulled my outdrive.

Go on Ebay and buy an alignment tool, they are probably cheaper than a single visit to a shop, they don't wear out and you should be pulling the drive every year.
You don't mention checking and greasing the gimbal bearing, but I expect you just forgot to mention it.

VP recommend their own brand gear oil and Mobil 1 SAE 75w-90 SHC although I think any GL5 should be OK so long as you change it each season.

Yeah, a $25 alignment tool is just a little cheaper than having a shop do just about anything. You'll need it several times in the future, just order one.

As for gear lube, any 75w90 synthetic GL5 lube will be good as long as it's not limited slip (LS). Your typical Mobil 1 from the autoparts store is most likely the LS version. Skip that and either order the SHC Mobil 1 type or another brand.

And there is no outdrive gasket - volvo sx drives don't use them.
