And it was a blast! We went to Barkley Lake (Kentucky) last Saturday and learned all kinds of things about boating. My wife and I never have launched one on our own before, so it was quite a learning experience. The good news is, the boat doesn't have any new scratches on it!

The bad news is, it broke on Sunday. We backed it into the water and I started it and let it warm up for a minute or two and then she died. I pulled it out of the water and found a thirsty carb. It wasn't getting any fuel, so I felt the fuel pump and it was smoking hot. A local mechanic said it must have shorted out. Good thing it died on the trailer because there wasn't too many boats on the lake this weekend.

Anyways, the new pump (and filter) will be here tomorrow. I'm $200 poorer, but boating is soooo much fun....... I really don't care what it costs, I just want to get back on the water. :D

I still haven't named our boat yet, maybe thats the reason why it broke?....

Put my boat back in the water on Sunday after I got it out of the shop (287.00 poorer) but well worth it,bought it at the end of last summer did all I could do at the house (got it running) took it to the lake 3 weeks ago and it ended up having other minor engine problems,my friend knew of an old school mech. he fixed it so we had the relaunch Sun. and it ran great.Looking foward to the summer. Your getting experience in handling boat problems as well as handling a boat. Both are important to have a successful boating season. Be glad that is the only problem you had. I've seen and read many times people destroying props and outdrives on their first time out. Not everything floats on the water where it can be seen and usually you don't know how deep the water is until it is too late. I suggest getting a fish finder with a depth reading. It can save bigger bucks in the long run. I know it has helped me on lakes in the past that I was unfamilar with. Good Luck and keep enjoying the wonderful expensive world of boating :D..........SS

Thats a nice spot for boating.........

I took my old glastron there a few years back and hit a sandbar wide open
I thought I ripped the outdrive off but luckily I didnt anyway after 30 mins of pushing managed to get back underway...lol.

Be careful out there :D

That would be a cool name....lol. I was thinking, something more like "empty wallet" would be good. hahaha

I'm not sure why the fuel pump went out, hopefully the new one will last for awhile.

Its got a digital Hummingbird depth finder, it doesn't look like the factory installed it, so I guess the previous owner did. I'm not sure if its good enough or not? What do you think?

Thanks for the warning. The depth finder would show 70 feet and then 9 feet the next second...... pretty scarey! I just stayed in the channel after seeing the 9 foot reading come across the depth finder.

Check the transducer to be sure it is horizontal and nothing is stuck to it. Also, the routing of the wires to the display could be too close to the motor wires causing interference.

Tight Lines.

Do you think something is wrong with my depth finder?
