Well, just got back from another journey up to the great white north, but this time a pineapple express blew in yesterday bring every thing from freezing rain (1/4 build up on my hood in Burns lake), to rain and about 2 feet of snow in some areas (Prince George to Willys Puddle
(Thanks PJ :D).

Thank God I'AM HOME"!!

The highways this morning when we left were clear as it was raining, but for the next 5 hours of driving it was 2-4 inches of compact snow with huge holes in it every foot or so (kinda like pot holes, but worse).
Then to make matters worse the washer stops squirting so I have to stop every 10 minutes or so and do the snow cleaning to the windsheild, (this only lasted an hour till we hit dry pavement!)

Theres 11 hours of my life I will never get back. ;)

So what excitment did I miss??

Pineapple express is when warm air/water comes out of the center of the pacific (Hawaii) is thrust north and warms up the north part of north america (works great till it hits a cold front and dumps lots of snow)

See chinook, "the snow eater"- temps can go from -40c to plus 10c-20c in just hours. alittle diffrent but same result.

Lipp do you get alot snow in the winter?....I'm guessing if its Colorado...yes?

Our area of Western Canada has pretty much the same weather as what Seattle is known for....which is rain and not much (if any) snow. This isn't surprising given the proximity of the cities.
As the crow flies we are not far from Seattle at all and are actually south of Bellingham, Washington....go figure.
We've had some frost but no snow at all and actually we did some gardening today believe or not, nice mild day.
I think as you move further east across Canada and the Northern U.S and approach the Great lakes and get away from the Pacific temperatures start to drop quite a bit. :)
On the upside we are getting our first man-made outdoor rink this year downtown in the main square!!...but it will need some extra refrigeration to keep it cold.
All Good

Re: So just back from the not so frozen north, sorta?!?!

we average 60 inches of snow a year so I guess we do, much more then where I lived before Tucson AZ!!LOL It was 55 Degrees today and I rode the Harley a bit and were expecting snow periodically through the week, our weather is a roller coaster it can be near 80 today and 8 inches of snow tomorrow(not being sarcastic its happened, I can't even say its rare anymore). The sad part is its nearly impossible to have an outdoor ice rink so go figure

....well based on what I saw.....I wouldn't say it had much to do with movement.:D
About 30% of the campers bailed on the first few rain days...then the next 30% bailed on the first few cold days.....then that left about 10-20% who were trying to figure out how to enact change...and the last 20%-ish who were the existing homeless who quickly gathered and moved there to get in on the free food tent.;):D....although the activists started vocalizing their disappointment with the homeless because they kept walking off with all their dishes and cutlery and not bringing them back.
