Re: So whats better?
Trihull for medium to small inland waters, protected saltwater bays and ocean on a REAL nice day. Will handle lite chop at moderate speeds (upto 35 MPH) comfortably, shallow draft, uses less HP, stable as a floating shoe box.
Deep V for most all ocean conditons and the roughest protected water conditions to speeds of 100 MPH or more (if the boat is capable), requires about 25% more HP to attain same performance as trihull, deeper draft. Small deep v (14'-18')boats are tipsy but not unstable.
Basicly trihulls are used for low HP applications (entry level type of boat usually) but there are few in production today. Modified v has replaced this type of hull which is sorta flat in the back and a sharp v on the bow. Ski boats are a good example of this type hull.
