Three anglers (two were teenagers) were fishing 27 miles off of Sebastian Inlet (Gulf Stream in Florida) when their 20' boat capsized due to heavy waves. All three were at the stern and caught up in the excitement of landing a Dolphin. Fortunately another boat was near by and rescued the three.
Sea Tow towed the boat in. They had a 200 ETEC on it which was ruined. They were able to salvage the lower unit but the powerhead was ruined. A new powerhead cost $8,000.00. They had no insurance.
And when the boat capsized only one was wearing a PFD!!! They were lucky to say the least.
