Hi all. I have my 1959 Starcraft Speed Queen that I am in the process of restoring. I want to repaint it because 1 its green, and 2 it was painted by some novice with a brush. I find stripping can be cumbersome and a general pain in the neck. Should I get it sodablasted? About how much would it cost to get this done? I am also still in search of a windshield for this boat. If you have one you aren't using, or know of one, please contact me.

That may be so on a fiberglass boat, but my Queen is aluminum.

Re: Sodablasting vs Stripping

I would have gone the sodablasting route if I could have gotten a good price on it. I had the same multiple coats of paint to strip and it took some time to strip it all and to sand itto give i some bite for the paint. Soda blasting would have accomplished it all in one shot.

If you are going to strip use a powerful enough pressure washer to blast the old paint off or you'll be stripping multiple times...at least I did with the stripper I used.
