well my 1988 johnson 225 motor<br />just had carbs rebuilt and today i was pumping the primer bulb to get started and i noticed fuel leaking from the front onto the lower pan.<br /><br />and also my bulb only got hard HALF WAY when squezed...like you squezze it and half way before completely flatting it will get HARD....<br /><br />I keep doing the squezzing but did not notice any more fuel leaking.<br /><br />i had just trailed it and it was just tilted down. mabey thats nomal to leak after tilting, but why is my bulb 1/2 hard see thru fuel filter is filled with fuel and she starts right up....thanks and i will do some searches in the meantime

Sounds like ya' got fuel going someplace? Remove the air silencer cover and pump the bulb up. See if any of the carbs leak out the throat area. May be a misadjusted float not shutting off all the way. I'm assuming this didn't happen prior to the carb overhaul. You will also want to check all fuel line connections also. Could be a fuel line that is not tight on the connection.<br /><br />(EDIT) Just thinking....might even be the primer bulb itself. One of the valves in the bulb might be leaking some. Fuel tank vented OK?

obj<br /><br />yea i was full hard before all carbs job by mechanic. should i take boat back to him ?<br /><br />bulb is year old with limited use.

If ya' can't see anything obvious as in my previous post, sure take it back. You don't need the leaking gas issue bugging you and the safety issue here is paramount. I'd hesitate to run her like she is.
