I am looking to purchase a boat that has a soft spot on the bridge just as you step off the ladder. A) Is this a significant issue? B) How can it be repaired?

Welcome to iboats!

Asking a question like that is like asking your doc if a heart murmur is a problem and what can he do about it...

Re: Soft Spot on Bridge

heheh,

well almost..

Is the soft spot at the top of the ladder? on the bridge?
If so, then it needs re-coring I bet.

if the boat is over 20 yrs old I'd assume it needs stringers, deck and transom, unless proven otherwise. Has it ever been rebuilt?
if not, you'll be the one stuck doing it.

rotted transoms always seem to show first with a little soft spot on the deck, then upon further inspection the stringers are soft...and the transom goes with them. Its rare that a little soft spot is just a little soft spot.

I assume its a Trojan 32', but how old is it, how well maintained is it, what did the survey inspection report say? No report.....don't touch it.

A survey will be the least cost you'll have in purchasing a 32' boat, so if you don't have it done before buying, you're on your own.

Just becouse the Deck has been redone doesnt mean it was done right . I am in the middle of pulling a ( new deck ) out of my 70 Starcraft jupiter V and whoever did the deck didnt glass it and THEY PUT WOOD STRINGERS IN AND SCREWED THEM THROUGH THE HULL  WTF were they thinking.
