I have a 16 foot Starcraft ss with a soft area on the very upper corner of the transom by the cap only on one side. Motor currently is a 60 hp Johnson. With the rest of the transom in good solid condition will I be ok ie safe running this boat this summer until I get a chance to install a new transom?

Maybe yes, maybe no.

Got any cracks in the splashwell? Does the transom flex if you stand on a trimmed up motor?

Haven't tried standing on the trimmed up motor but I will definitely try that and see how much if any flex. Can't say if there are any cracks in the splash well . is there any particular place those cracks would be on the splash well?

I would take a hammer and tap around on the entire transom and listen for any soft or hollow sounding spots. This isn't a fool proof method but would help reveal if there are any other issues.
