Hey everyone I'm looking at going to a four blade prop and wondering what the pros and cons of each prop is. They seem identical besides the rubex has a rubber hub which seems strange but I would like some real feedback. My boat is a 1980 glastron cvx 16.6:700lps, 1983 mercury 1150 tower of power:350lps. Current prop is a quicksilver three blade 21p SS, it does a good job with the top rpm right on the money with a 52mph top speed. I mostly use the boat for wakeboarding so i'm looking at a 19p fourblade so give a lower planing speed and better holeshot when towing a boarder with the boat loaded with people. Any feedback and advice welcome.

They both use the same "rubber" hub. One is pressed in at the factory and the other is torqued in by you.

The Rubex is actually cheaper because all the needed hardware is included in the hub kit(included in the prop price.

If you buy the Amita, you may need to purchase separately some hardware, depending on how your present prop's outer washer is configured.

The Rubex Has a removable hub If the prop was appropriate for say an Evinrude you could simply get a Evinrude hub for the prop.
Also makes it slightly less expensive to swap props. While the 4 blade may lose 100 to 200 rpm the 2"pitch reduction will tend to add
about 300 to 400 rpm. so perhaps that works out to 200 to 300 increase in rpm.Hole shot should be good, the boat should stay on plane easier at reduced throttle. It may seem smoother and more responsive around the dock.
You'll need to be aware of the rpm and will lose some top end.

I used a Solas Amita 4 blade with hub pressed in at factory last season,, performed very well.. you already stated what you expect to gain by going to 4 blades.. you are correct in your assumptions... see if your engine at WOT with the 19p is in the recommended range... performance difference between those two Solas's. probably little, other than one has a factory hub pressed in and the other one you would have to press in. as for installation, I purchased a Michigan- Vortex 15x16p.. with hub kit. the hub was a snap to install... MHO- you wont go back to a 3 blade after using a 4 blade..

I would prolly go further and get a 18 four blade.........when you head out to wakeboard throw on the 18, when you head out just to run around and want speed throw on the 21SS

WOT is a non issue when wakeboarding... just gotta be mindful of your rpm's running to your fav wakeboard area
