I have twim Aquamatic 280 drives on my houseboat and looking to replace the propellers.
I noticed that Solas has a prop. that matches my drives for half the price of a Volvo Penta.
Anyone have experence with this Mfgr.? Price seems to be to good!

I have bought several of their props and loved them. Never a problem and very smooth in the water.

Good to here. Nice to be able to save some $$.
I always heard that it is better to stick with the orginal manufacture parts and equipment because other competitors and manufactures don't adhere to the same ridged standards.

Would you happen to know if these type of props can be repairred like a cast aluminum type? (helliarched welded)
Solas advertises that their props are made by extreme pressure where as other mfgrs. are casted aluminum.

Solas uses a squezz cast technology which creats a more dense material than a die cast. This allows for the blades to be repaired easier and will result in a cleaner weld.

Yep. Bought a 4 Blade Solas last year for my 280. Prop works great. Very happy with it.

The squeeze process they use is more or less like forging. The material is denser and stronger than a standard cast piece. It also makes for better repairs as you are welding to something with a tighter grain structure.

You won't be disappointed.

Thanks for the great info.
I suppose for what a new Solas prop sells for vs a repaired prop there isn't much difference. Plus a new prop has better quality standards which it was manufactured at. But it is good to know that some minor dings and chips could be repaired.
