Hi I am wanting to replace my 21 pitch SS 3 blade prop on my 2006 Glastron mx175 with mercruser 3.0 with a 19 pitch SS 3 blade prop. I really like the idea about the rubex hub, less vibration and 10% softer shifting etc... All of the rubex props say for heavy boats, would I make a mistake by getting one for my size boat? Does anyone else have a rubex on a 17 foot boat?

Thank

Any idea or suggestion on props? I looked at Apollo, but is does not allow the Rubex hub.

Re: Solas rubex prop

.

I've got Bayliner 1700 with OB 120 HP motor. For light weight cruising, I mount the 3-blade 19" Solar Rubex Aluminum prop. For tubing and/or loaded down, I mount the 4 blade 17" Solar Rubex Aluminum prop. Majority of time, I use the 4-blade 17" Aluminum prop. I find the 4-blade gets better traction and better control during lower speeds as well.

Note: If going with 2 different Solars prop sizes, ensure one buys a hub for each different prop. Thus, one only needs to "spin the nut" to exchange each proper. If one uses the same hub, one will probably need a vice or clamps to remove the hub for the prop. IMO, the rubber hub is more for less vibrations and not for interchange-able parts (on same company props).

For Prop selections, surf (and pick different choices) at: http://boatpropellers.iboats.com/

Hope this helps.

Why are you swapping props, just to get the Rubex hub system, performance, other? You didn't state your boat's current performance numbers (GPS speed, RPM, load), or if you want to correct anything, so no one can really say if it's a good idea to use a 19P prop.

Look at the sticky at the top of the forum and get back with us with that info about your boat.
