When I try to start my engine the starter solenoid clicks very loud. It has a flat back grounded mount and one of the ground wires (smaller one coming off the front of solenoid) Is hooked into on of the solenoid mount screws.
If I take off both solenoid mount screws removing the unit- hook the ground wire from the solenoid directly to the engine with the mount screw- then touch a metal corner of the solenoid to the screw head the engine starts? - ? Should I just buy another solenoid? Thanks to QC i have identified my engine as a stern drive 1969 omc chevy II - 4 cyl- 120 hp.
