Did some testing on the starter after my arm gave out.

Seems the starter is fine or appears to be. But the solenoid is shot.

Have to order the new one as prime boating season has them on back order.

Can I just use a similar auto solinoid and if so
12v seems obvious but what about amp rating?
100amp seems to be the norm (for auto), and 200 amp .... will

I'll just tap into the house service for that ...

I realize I'll have to (or should) replace with a marine solenoid, but for now the 10-15 bucks will get me going and the 40 and the wait well...
I'm an impatient geek ...

thanks in advance

Computer Geek
The automotive solinoid will work (but should only be used for at home testing)(legal thing) you need to add a ground. As for amps I think any auto is going to pull more amps to start the engine that your boat engine!
Richard
