Transom serial number is OL287387. Drive seal number is OL406238, Engine number is 0L097202. I have a Bayliner 2052LS Capri. 1999 3.0l GM engine with Mercruiser Alpha 1 Drive. I have got a replacement universal solenoid to fit, but there is a couple of questions I have. The first is that will I kill the solenoid if I wire it up incorrectly? I ask because the one that is on the boat has an I and F stamped on it for the smaller wires that come from the starter whilst nothing is stamped on the body for the bigger ignition wire. The new solenoid has nothing at all stamped on it and is made "conections left to right" where the original is made "up to down"......have I lost you yet? If I do wire it the wrong way then I'm hoping that it just won't start and I will have to move the wires about until I get it right. But whacking current through something incorrectly usually kills things. Also, I will have to cut off all the wiring connectors and replace/ re crimp new ones on because the connections on the new solenoid are larger. IE :- 6 mm on old and 8 mm on new. Will this effect current? The picture is the original not working solenoid. The new one as said is left to right on the big conections not up and down. And the smaller conections are up and down between the big conections and not next to each other like the original. So I'm guessing as to where I will have to put the new wires on.

Your picture didn't upload. TO display a picture. Just copy and past it into the body of the page.

It doesn't matter which wire goes to which terminal on the large lugs. It is basically a switch breaking two wires (the large ones) When power is applied to the "I" terminal small screw the switch will close and the two large terminals will become one.

The larger connectors should also be ok on the wire ends. It sounds like you new solenoid is the one commonly used for the trim motor? The one on the top being new and the one on the bottom being your old one??
