i know, i know. but barring using 10 cans of carb cleaner, what other solvent would work? my go to would usually be mineral spirits for this sort of thing (i have a few gallons kicking around)--any problems with that? or would acetone or something else be better? i can't seem to find a big 'ol vat of carb cleaner locally...

fwiw, the carb looks to be in great shape--unfortunately, i guess, to solve my hesitation on accel problem. accelerator pump looks pristine. only 2 issues appear to be a kinked fuel line (replacing) and the choke-->carb gasket. well, maybe there's hidden gunk in there that i'm not seeing. and for a first "real" carb rebuild (i've done chainsaws, lawnmowers, mopeds, etc), this doesn't seem too tough. the manual is fantastic, as usual.

Go to Auto Zone and buy a can of Berrymans carb cleaner 19.75 a can with basket inside. Dismantlr carb and soak overnight just not the plastic stuff. works great
