Hi guys,
Figured I'd post my fuel consumption figures that I took about a week ago.
Engine is a Mercury 1970 1150 1600cc inline 6 two stroke.

Idle in gear - 7 litres/hour
35mph (60km/h) - 12-13 liters/hour
43mph (70km/h) WOT - 22 liters/hour

WOT is around 6000rpm
Running a 15" aluminium prop
Boat is a fiberglass bow rider. Estimated at around 1000kg all up weight.

Re: Some fuel consumption figures

Were those numbers achieved using a fuel flow monitor? If not, I question the accuracy except for the idle figure. I use a flow flow monitor on a 75 HP Merc triple and wide open throttle is 7.5 g/hr vs your 8.7, cruise is 4.5 - 5.0 g/hr vs your 5.8 and idle is .7 g/hr vs your 1.8. Your engine should burn in the vicinity of 11.5 g/hr at WOT and probably 7 g/hr at cruise. If your numbers are correct, you are besting the current crop of equivalent four strokes by a ton so I just question the data.

Personally I think Silvertip is closer to what I get with mine.

I did pretty good last weekend with a light (throttle-RPM-and load) cruise but that was probably not far off of 7gph

Picture represents another stop before venturing off to next leg of travel.

Anyone have burn charts for a late 80's 90 horse 3 cyl. I just rebuilt the carbs and gave her new plugs and I think at a cruise Im burning about 4 an hour. Does this sound close or right?
