some questions about winterizing

Well that time of year is coming in a little over a month :( and It's a new boat so there are a few things I need to ask (yes I know this subject has been beaten to death). info: 2012 vp 5.0 GXIE V8 270 with sx drive with 65hrs

I have already found the 4 drains, 1 on each manifold and 1 on either side of the block, all blue so easy to find! and I know how to remove all hoses. So none of thats an issue!

Questions ;first: I was reading in the manual that the fuel pump on the front of the motor is water cooled and the hose from the thermostat going to it needs to be drained, Is this true? second: is there any kind of power steering cooler?? or any other coolers that need to be drained? third: I was reading that your run 50:1 for "fogging" instead of the bottle stuff, Does the oil in the fuel clog the injectors at all? and finally: I have asked the question before but does anyone know if there any grease fittings on the drive, Gimbel housing or on the coupler inside the boat?

Thanks:D

Re: some questions about winterizing

Here is the service bulletin on fogging the engines, it includes the mixture used to fog.
I would mix up a gallon or two in an outboard tank. Fog as suggested, then pour the remaining mixture into the boats fuel tank. That small amount of 2 stroke oil will not even be noticeable in a full tank of gas.

And yes, if something has water in it, drain it, blow it out, whatever.

Thanks Don! Quick question will the power steering pump be behind the motor or underneath the motor, I haven't had a chance to look yet.

I don't know, I don't have one. Post a picture of your engine.

Re: some questions about winterizing

Ok so I had a good look at the motor and i think i have it all figured out i just need some stuff confirmed!

I found the power steering cooler it was actually on the port side of the motor towards the front, Now the big water line coming in and one going out you just pull them both off and drain all the water correct? and now for the fuel pump cooler, I have found 3 hoses total on it that look like they need to be drained so i'm guessing just pull them off and drain them into bilge.
All hoses have been traced and I know how to drain all the main ones and I have found all drain plugs, one on each side of the block and one on each manifold. any other drains i need to know about??? also one final question why is there sensors on each block drain?? seems odd. thanks

From the looks of it on pic 4 , its a knock sensor. If it senses a motor vibration or shutter it will allow the computer to retard the ignition timing momentarily. Thats my take on it........

Re: some questions about winterizing

if anyone could just let me know what you guys think that hose that goes from the fuel pump to in intake manifold is, or if it holds water or if it's a vent or something like that it would be great! and the proper way to drain the fuel pump cooler. thanks
