Anybody ever take off from the house with the garden hose still atached to their outboard? It seems the hose and motor were stronger than my pipes, pulled the plumbing right out of the wall.

Wow, I wasn't expecting you to say that the pipes came out of the wall. <br />Not to say that I have done the same thing  <br />Hopefully it is not too expensive of a fix.<br /><br />One more thing....did you notice it whilst driving out of the driveway, or when you got back from boating(if you even went).

Looked in the mirror as we were pulling out of the driveway and saw the hose trailing behind us. Yes I just stopped and turned off the water then went fishing anyway. I have pvc pipes so it was a fairly easy job to replace the hose bib and pipe that came loose with it.

Oh gosh no. I'm much smarter than that.<br /><br />However:<br /><br />A few weeks ago, <br /><br />***<br />I have a long driveway that runs from the street, up to the house, into the backyard along the side of the house, and on into the detached garage behind the house. Total- I'd guess its almost 100 feet long.<br /><br />Naturally, all the toys are in a line starting at the garage.<br /><br />Taking out the rear boat involves moving the wife's car, and the other boat in front of the rear one.<br /><br />You end up with cars and boats strewn all up and down the street during such a move/shift.<br />****<br /><br /> The hydro was in the garage, the 21' day cruiser was next in line, then the wife's car.<br /><br />I was going to take out the hydro the next morning after I got up at the crack of Noon.<br /><br />I moved everything out in the street. Parked the hydro up the block, put the 21'er back, then instead of backing it from 3 houses up the street, I just hopped in and drove around the block with the hydro to get int a good position to stop, back it in around the corner a few yards, and put it in front of where the wife's car was going to be. That way, when she went to work the next morning, I could whip the truck around and back up, hitch up and take the hydro to the lake. <br /><br />Everything is going as planned, I drove around the block, got the trailer all set to back in,,, I started backing the hydro up into the slot to be in front of her Explorer.<br /><br /><br />Then this sweet voice calls out, "Hunnn,,,,,,,,<br /><br />why are you dragging around the battery charger and extension cord behind your boat? I don't think that's very good for it".

GatorMike went fishing anyway - I salute you! I can imagine how that would go over at my house: "sweetie, y'all will be without water for a few hours, sorry, really nothing I can do about it right now."<br /><br />WingerEd, in the airline business we call that a GPU pullaway (ground power unit), a pretty expensive blunder. At least the wife stopped you from backing over it.<br /><br /> :D :D :D

Re: Somebody call a plumber

Since we're confessing things we've dragged from our boats. I was about five miles from the lauch when I noticed my bow dockline sailing in the breeze. I slowed to pull over and remove it when I heard a God-awful noise. I knew instantly that I had run over the line with the trailer tire. I went back to inspect the damage. I expected the cleat to be ripped out of the hull or some such catastrophe. Nope, only a black mark on the end of the dockline. Whew was I lucky. And this was after whacking the bow good backing the trailer into the water. I've quit feeling rushed because someone else is waiting for the dock. I won't dawdle, but I won't rush from now on either. And this was my first time loading by myself. Mental(case) note, use alot more caution next time. Check, recheck and check again.

Re: Somebody call a plumber

Working years of highway traffic patrol near a large recreational lake I have seen a LOT of stuff trailing behind boats and campers. You guys are not alone. I have to say I have came out pretty good with all of the boating accessories and tools I find on the road during the summer.
