Hey everybody !! Very nice and interesting is this Forum and i stay for a while but at least i 'm sticking for hours !! the last days i found out it.
I own a Force 90 hp i think model of '93 and after 10 years and enough miles the left bracket cracked starting exactly from the up holding bolt and going straight up for 8 cm length .Near the bolt ,opening of crack is 1 mm and die away till the 8 cm lenght.
Here in Greece couldn't find a new one and one engineer told me to fix the same with argon sticking and a second one told me that only the surface will be stick and better he will search his old spares in his stock and to replace if he find otherwise to stick it.The first one doewn't want to take the job because he says is hard to remove the four bolts (2 horizontal and two vertical to remove the bracket) and has to cut them because of salt and to replacce with inox (sell by metre and not the special of Force cause does not exist in the mmarket)and the second said is easy to remove the bolts but don't wants to tell me what costs before he will search his spares????????

An advise please ??!!

If as I suspect the engine has the thin Force clamps with a long stainless bolt passing through it, with two upper mounting holes: Do not even think about welding it. The weld will only penetrate the surface and will be weak. What you have is corrosion between the aluminum bracket and the stainless bolt. The aluminum expands around the bolt because aluminum corrosion is about ten times the volume of mass aluminum. This pressure cracks the clamp at the bolt. Eventually it will completely split the mounting clamp. The clamp is now almost useless and possibly dangerous replacement is the only option.

NOW: If you are boating in salt water, and if your engine still has the Force clamps, not the Mercury clamps, the older style mounting brackets with a threaded clamp screw in the front are more corrosion resistant and a better choice. These brackets would be off a late Chrysler or early Force engine---1978-1986 and would be white. Everything is the same and they will just bolt right on to the engine and clamp to the transom.

Re: Somebody to Help me with cracked bracket please !!

Good morning everybody ,and have a nice day i wish to you !!
Thank you men, both of you (jerryjerry05 and Frank ) for your immediate responce wich i need so much!!
Today (that means tomorow for you, cause i live at an eastern latitute on the earth) i 'll try to give a picture in the forum with the crack!
Frank you are great man !!
I believe that you've got the matter and it is exactly as you 're talking about!!(The pucture will show this !!)
I thought that i hit (and may be happen) the engine down on the sidewalk when i was get in the parking last September (and from then i have to start the engine -this is another matter what i have to do ? -cause usually all that years i was every two months max. working the engine and never had any trouble),and i broke the clamp, but your explanation shows to be more close to the reality than mine thinking .
Anyhow I think that I have the thin clamp with threaded bolt which must belong to FORCE and from a last year picture wich I'll TRY to put up now you will see the model.

So as you say ,today I'll talk with enginneer and i hope that he will find a good condition clamp in his spares .
Just in case, I ask if there is any possibility, if I need any spares for my good engine ,to find everything from USA ?? and if yes (because in Greece does not exist any more any representative) is possible for shipping to Greece with reliability from the seller ?!
2nd ).What do you advice me to do ,so to start and work in safe mode my sweet engine after 10 months of no run her ??!! in order not to have any trouble ??
3.hereunder you will find my sweet lovelly boat (You did understand that I am in love with her !!) in case I will be able to put up some pictures !!
Thanks again Both of you men !!
And I apologize if my English are not verry pretty ! I learn them at scool and in the vessels travelling around the world in my early age .
Awaiting your responce ,have a nice and sweet day!!
George P.

Well, don't apologise for your english! At least you are trying and can make yourself understood. I can not speak or write any Greek so who is the better man? Besides. boaters all speak the same language.

At any rate, you have a Force engine before Mercury started making a lot of changes to them. Your engine does have a dual exhaust lower unit with a 2 piece drive shaft. That makes it someoplace in the early 1990s.

Parts are still available here in the USA. However, things like clamps, carbs, and lower units are best bought used because of the price of new. And, if there are Mercury dealers in your area of the Mediterranean, then they should also be able to get you parts you would normally buy new, like gaskets, fuel pump diaphragms, and water pump impellers.
