The plate is sheet stainless steel sandwiched between two identical gaskets. The cover is aluminum. I suspect you need a cover because yours corroded and perforated? These parts were made with several different bolt hole variations from year to year. Try Franz Marine at the Chrysler Crew. He has lots of parts. If he can't help, post a photo here. I have several old covers and may be able to help. Be aware they are not cheap new. the last one I bought cost 87 bucks.

Ps. Thry to save at least one gasket as a template. If they are not available you will need to make your own. --Time consuming but doable.

well, i did manage too take if off today. I have 5 broken bolts in the head now but its off and it def needed to be replaced. im going to order the two gaskets and the metal insert from that link above. But ill def need that outside cover. the bottom left port was completely clogged with corrosion where water would normally travel through that jacket. I hope this motor didnt get overheated. its funny because near that lower section the metal insert looked alot cleaner at the bottom where that clogged port is.

You have a choice with the broken bolts. If enough is sticking up to grab with a Vice-Grip, keep spraying them with WD for a couple of days. Then heat the block with a propane torch and wiggle them loose. Finally wiggle them out--1/2 turn foward--1/4 turn back on and on until loose enought to completely turn out.

Or-- you can drill them out. They only go into the block a little more than 1/4 inch so you can drill deeper with a 3/16 drill then tap 1/4-20. Just be careful. Go slow and keep pulling the drill out to clear chips. Aluminum tends to gall on the drill and will snap it. Same thing goes for the tap --no more than 1/2 turn in at a time and use cutting fluid.
