I know this is a little different from the normal but maybe someone has a idea on it.
I go to hook up my boat trailer one night and I have no lights:eek:......hmmmm
Turn signals work , brake lights work , no running lights...
Next day check fuse in Chevrolet 2500 truck with a 7 point hook up and find it blown.
Easy fix huh? replaced fuse:)
Hooked up to a different trailer and BAM blew it again.:(
Cant find anything wrong with wiring on truck on hook up and the lights all work on the truck. All trailers lights work except for the running lights which blows a fuse everytime.
Yes I know it has a dead short somewhere, but anyone know how I might go about checking it?
Sorry just though I'd change the question a little bit....lol
All help is apreciated!!!:D

Does it blow when there is no trailer attached? Does it have a lighting converter? If so, check out the converter. I had one fail a few years ago, and it blew fuses in the vehicle. Even if does not blow without the trailer, it still could be the converter.

If you are using a 7 to 4 converter plug (four wires from trailer to 7 pins on truck) you may be using the wrong plug. These are all not identical on the 7 pin side. Insert the plug without the trailer connected. Now use a test light or meter to check the pins on the 4 pin side for proper operation. LT, RT, Tail and ground. Ground is the bare pin. Depending on who wired the trailers, both of those could be wired wrong as well. I've seen it many times.
