I just went and bought me a digital multi meter as I had a hard time figuring out the anolog. Anyway I tried to check the ac votage on my stator and just connecting the ground gives me a reading. It just keeps fluctuaing bouncing all around. It had just rained here and I did not have my crowling on real tight so I am thinking the engine got a little moist and that is why I am getting a reading on ground with out even touching pos. Its probaly shorting out some where and it even sounds like its missing a little. gonna wait till dark and check it out. One other thing I test my batter at stop its about 12.40 start it up and it goes to about 13 .40 or 50 . so I guess it/s charging alright?

It's charging OK. The volts wierdness is a result of induction from electro-magnetic radiation. You are picking it up because you have a sensitive meter. If you know what induction is, great. If not, don't worry about it unless you just want to expand your knowledge. It should give a true reading when you contact the + lead to something.
