i found a guy willing to owner finance his boat to me, a 2000 lund 16 ft aluminum with bowmount, and extras. the motor is a 2000 40 hp force. in wisconsin ive realized that boats keep thier value well, so hes aking 3,500. this seems like a super deal to me, but all i know about force is that its made by merc. does anyone have anything to say about this before i pull the trigger in a couple days? is thier anything i should know about the motor, i havent asked him anything yet, but id like to know about it!!! is it oil injected? is this going to be a good motor, he said its had no recent maintence, but she fires right up.....when did merc stop making force? tell me stuff please!

Re: Sould I Be Excited?

NO.

They stopped making them in 1999, so it is NOT a 2000 model.

It is NOT oil injected.

Get the model and serial numbers, and the hull id number, and get back to us.

On the price...... $2500 tops, maybe less.

Its been a buyers market this year, with rigs selling for 50-60 % of last years prices. Plus, this is the end of the season, and Force engines have really dropped in value.

For comparison, take a look at this auction listing from Madison WI, that just ended today. Its a 2001 with a 4-stroke 70 hp, went for $4250.

I'd wait till spring, by then you will have the money saved up and there will be plenty of boats to choose from.

Where are you in Wisconsin?

Sure its a Lund Stinger? NADA guides says they quit making that model in 1990.

If you can pay 1000 down, and 500 a month, put the money in the bank, and you will have $4000 by spring.

Sounds like you are already talking yourself out of it. If you fish Lake Michigan or Lake Winnabago, save your money and buy something bigger and better. SAFETY FIRST I own a 17' 6" bluefin spectrum with a 85hp, I feel safe on the big lake with 10 foot rollers, but try not to go out when I know its going to be like that.
