The populace of Oceania, belonging to three classes?Inner Party members, Outer Party members and members of a lower-class proletariat ("the Proles")?is subordinate to ruthless government control. This is accomplished and regulated by a "Ministry of Truth" in which the protagonist, Winston Smith, works as an Outer Party member. Smith spends his days constantly rewriting and altering history to satisfy the government (which includes destroying all evidence of how history has actually happened)?amending newspaper articles of the past so to remove all reference to individuals whom the state has identified as "unpersons" (people who the state declares as having never existed).

It has a ring of familiarity to it!!! Doesn't it?

It is from the George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four which has become the heart of the "Big Brother is watching you".

I read iboats and just shake my head. I agree on the "family site" orientation ....... political threads are zapped within minutes however, we can discuss ways to get rid of cats, harm animals, and marijuana without recourse..... Some pretty disturbing stuff more so than political fodder.

Bob, our policies have nothing to do with politics.

They have to do with preserving civil behavior in a PRIVATE environment.

The torture and killing of cats by drowning and fire is not very civil behavour to talk about here at iboats............not to be a stick in the mud.

Why didn't any of you clik on the red and white triangle which reports the thread to the mods. we try to read everything but it is impossible. your help is appreciated.

there was a thread i ran across, yesterday, very political, 5 members posted on it how long it would last. but no one reported it. i zapped it 1hour and 5 minutes after original posting.

Two subjects that will rile people up the quickest: religion and politics.

Like most people I have strong opinions on both, but I also try to make it a point not to discuss either of them, especially in any forums. :)

Dont blame me for the cat haters. I started the thread but soon was offended by the cruel ideas about hurting our little kittie friends. I salute it being locked......

that's fine if you don't report, but those who don't, have no right to complain.

I'll admit, I missed one.
I had not been following that thread like I should have and should have known it would get to the stage it did.
I am not worthy.:redface::redface:

And for those who don't want to report a thread.
So be it. Like TD says, don't complain then.
Nobody knows who reports a thread but us and we ain't telling.
But I will say this, it is a big help to us for sure and we thank the ones that do let us know about suspect threads.

Re: Sound like anything we know? Proles?

I ain't got no problem reporting them. I just forgot about it on the "guess how long before it gets zapped" thread tashasdaddy was talking about. Besides, I was guessing how long it would take.

I will, for the sake of helping out the mods, flag the next one I see.
