Since getting the latest virus out my sound/volume has been inoperative.Could someone advise me on how to get it working???

I hardly ever use it but the "List Manager" does.

Thanx in advance.

Throat lozenges? Maybe some humming? If it continues, I'd see the doctor for something stronger.

Seriously, what are we talking here in terms of OS, Hardware, etc...

Re: Sound/Volume Controls

I would remove the SoundMax driver and reinstall it for starters. If that does not help you might want to reinvestigate your sound settings. It is not likely to be a hardware problem.Ron G

Re: Sound/Volume Controls

I would check:

The Basics
Make sure the speakers are on and plugged in to the correct jack. If they're color coded, it'll likely be the green jack.

You can plug the speakers into something else (anything with a headphone jack) to verify they work.

Settings
Double-click the volume (little speaker) or SoundMax icon in the "Notification Area"/System Tray (down by the clock/lower right corner). Make sure nothing is muted or turned down preventing sound.

Driver
Check the sound hardware in the device manager. Right-click My Computer, click manage, and then click Device Manager. Expand the Sound, Video, and Game Controllers container by clicking the "+" next to it. Look for any exclamation points which would indicate a problem with the driver. If the exclamation points are present, reinstalling the driver would be the next step.

! means reinstall because it indicates a problem.

The absence of ! means Windows thinks the driver is working.

You can reinstall the drivers if you want. I just wanted to make sure you understood the indicators.

O K---My heart rate is back to normal and I have cleaned myself up after my volume "suddenly" started working.Apparently I left it on "high" the last time I tried to get it to come back on.

Thanx for all the help.
