Over my years, have worked on about every part of a car and was always able to find or make any special tools I needed. Now, I'm on my 1st major rebuild of a boat motor and drive.
Although, I have many tools I didn't have a puller I could use to remove the bearing. So I did what I always try, if I don't have a special tool. That is to go to Advance Auto Parts store. I asked to look at the book on the puller sets they had and found just what I needed. It was a Powerbuilt master axle puller set, advanced PN 648611 and cost $169.99. Yes I bought it but hold on. They like many Auto parts stores have a tool loaner program--you pay for it, bring it back and get a full refund. The only problem, often the tool sets are missing parts or broken because people either don' care or don't know how to use the tool. At any rate, this set was new.
I tried to use the one attachment on the slide hammer that you can flip, slide behind bearing and then it folds down and you can pull the bearing out--no luck, the rubber on the seal would not let me. So I just used the attachment that has the 3 jaws--about 4 pulls and it was out.The seal was a worse pain to get out. They didn't have any tool to install the seal or bearing so I'll make one. Again, If you find yourself in need of a special tool, check with one of your local parts stores, be it advance, auto zone or whatever.
Sry If I bored ya.

I just use a length of threaded rod, a handful of washers ( a couple ground oval so I can tip them through the bearing, give it a shake and they sit in behind) and 2 nuts. I have a big fender washer and a plate with a hole torched through it.
I have had almost no success with slide hammering.
