Trying to repair the upper driveshaft on my alpha 1, and am looking for a local source for a speedi-sleeve. Not sure what types of places would carry them in stock. Really want to be on the water this weekend. I've tried Grainger/Napa/advance/autozone etc, local machine shops, and a couple of bearing supply places, no luck. Any suggestions on who might carry these unicorns?

Eh, I give up. Going with Amazon, doesn't look like we'll be on the water tomorrow. For anyone looking, many auto parts places can order them, but I haven't found anyone that stocks them, at least the size I'm looking for. Federal-Mogul makes a competitor, redi-sleeve, as does duralast. All of the dimensions and part #'s are the same among the 3.

Did you check at any of the roller bearing stores or NAPA like I suggested in the pm ?

Disregard the above post.
I find I’d hard to believe that you are having so much trouble in your area. I figured that in that part of the state there would have a better supply chain. It definitely looks like you really did try. Was the size that I had given correct?
Since this is a pretty common problem too bad that the after market suppliers have not started to carry them.

Yeah, I checked everywhere I could think of. Lots of sources but nothing in stock. Checked the trw and skd sites and called all the local distributors. I thought that machine shops should carry them, but nope. I mic'd the shaft at 1.24 inches. Could have gone a bit small or a bit large. Ended up ordering one that has a range of 1.247 on the small end. Guessing the shaft is spec'd at 1.25, so this hopefully will fit the seal.

When you get the sleeve it comes with a tool to install it but some come with a piece of aluminum tubing and some are closed on 1 end and not deep enough. A deep socket or a piece of pipe will work. Wrap some tape around the sleeve before installing to protect the polished surface.
I replaced quite a few gear sets from the oil draining down the shaft so you will be in good shape after it goes back together.

Thanks Chris, but Australia isn't quite local for me. Though my wife and I were trying to visit for our anniversary this year, I'd need a better reason to get her on the plane.
