Do you mean a Volvo SX drive? Sp is more commonly a designation for Single Prop on drives that have the DuoProp option like the 280 and 290 and later model SX. If you mean SX then, Nope.

He is probably talking abot this drive, After 290, the drive was renamed SP.

Right away it won't work. You will need to change the suspension fork. I have never tried to install the 280 suspension fork on an SP drive, but I'm not sure it's possible. On the other hand, I have seen SP drives for sale with a 280 suspension fork. but if something has been altered to make that happen, I don't know.

Can I take a complete SP drive with its transom shield and transfer onto a boat that had a 280 drive and transom shield?

The hole in the transom would need to be slightly larger for the Sp. Also you may or may not have any issues with the ujoints fitting on the PDS in the flywheel cover. But I'm not sure, never tried the swap.

The outdrive on my houseboat is pretty corroded and I'm looking at buying a donor boat, found a Bayliner with an sp and was wondering if it would work. Looks like I'll keep hunting for a 280 with a 1.61 ratio.

That would be your easiest move
