Does anyone have a good spam program that is either free or you pay for that will stop all these emails I am getting? I tried the search but couldn't find anything there. Also, would a router stop any spam from getting in? Might be a dumb questions but thought I would ask anyway. Thks in advance for any help.

Nope, the router won't help with the spam emails you're getting. Goto your ISP's website, login to administer your account. Look to find an option in the email settings to turn on a spam filter. If you're using a email client program (Outlook Express or Thunderbird) setup email filters to dump spam to the trash as theycome in. Resist the impulse to reply to any of them asking to 'unsubscribe'.....since it was spam, they then know they have an active email address (yours!) They will sell your address and you'll get 10 times as much spam.

Do what Xcusme sez (because he always has good advice) and trash a lot of that stuff at your isp, if possible.

If you still want something for your machine, you’re in luck! The Sept issue of Consumer Reports publishes the result of CR’s testing of internet software. Anti-spam is one bunch they tested. Per CR testing, the FREE (yes, FREE) anti-spam software from Trend Micro is the best stuff out there right now, better than the other stuff they tested costing as much as $70. It’s called Anti-Spam Pilot, you should be able to download it from Trend Micro’s website.

If you try Anti-Spam Pilot, please post back here and let us know how you like it.

Note: the Trend Micro anti-spam s/w that comes embedded in their internet suit of software products is NOT the same as the FREE stand alone version of Anti-Span Pilot…and not as good, either, according to Consumer Reports.

I use Gmail as a primary address and it has a good spam filter. I get about 75 pieces a day and they all end up in spam.

I use Mozilla Thunderbird for my email. It's got an excellent spam filter and it's free. If you prefer outlook you can get Spambayes. It'll add the feature to outlook ad it works pretty well. It's free also.

Thank you all for your replies which are always very good. 18rabbit I tried the anti spam pilot you recommended and love it. Very easy to use and it works great! If it was not free, i would not hesitate to pay for the program. Thanks again for the great advice.
