Hey guys, so after yesterdays fiasco on the water I have her home now and I am attempting to fix my 1988 E140TLCCM. I've got spark, I've got fuel, but she wont start. I am thinking that I might have fooled with the timing? No idea. I had it running earlier to do a de-carb, and she ran. Didnt sound great, sounded like it was misfiring, but it ran. Now, it wont even start back up. I am letting it sit while I come inside to type this. Please help me out. I am truly stumped.

Ummmm....why do you think that you "might" have fooled with the timing? It's not easy to do that accidentally. ;)

Have you checked compression readings?

Because of our problem on the water yesterday, my buddy was playing with everything in the powerhead. And come to find out after looking at the manual, on of the levers was for timing.

As for compression she is reading 95, 100, 110, 115 for the 4 cylinders.

A mechanic friend of mine tells me that I need to fix the timing. But I cant even get it started to fix the timing. I dont know too much about outboards in relation to car motors. How can I fix the timing without starting it, just so I can start it and fix it. :-D
